Kurt Wallander – Is He the Dumbest Detective Ever?

Kurt Wallander is a detective that solves big crimes. The only problem is that he seems to be the dumbest detective ever. Wallander doesn’t follow the rules and as a result, people get hurt.

Wallander does solve the crimes, but he does it in way that gets people hurt. He can’t hold on to a relationship. He can’t even get along with his own daughter.

In one episode, Kurt Wallander is searching for information from a suspect. He is not authorized to go on the perps property. The gate to the property is locked, but Kurt Wallander decides to ignore all the warnings.

Kurt has a police detective partner that is riding along with him. She asks him to get a warrant before attempting to contact the suspect again. Kurt ignores her request and proceeds to jump the fence and enter the property illegally.

Why is Kurt so stupid? On the initial visit to the suspect, Kurt noticed that the suspect had dogs. Yep, you read that right, multiple dogs that can bite and injure humans. Did that stop Kurt from jumping the wall and trying to find evidence without a warrant? No!

Wallander doesn’t just get himself into trouble, he drags others close to him into harms way. So he jumps the fence and his detective partner decides to follow along. The other detective was just having his back like a good detective should.

Kurt immediately sees a dog tied up. Nobody else is around, so he assumes that the coast is clear. The other detective has to remind the numbskull that there were two dogs on the property. All of a sudden, the other dog is charging at Kurt Wallander and the other detective. The dog jumps on Kurt and takes him to the ground.

A police detective that is searching for information would probably have some form a protection readily available. Kurt Wallander couldn’t think that far in advance. He got bit big time on the forearm. The detective that was with him had to sit and watch in horror as this dog proceeds to take to Kurt Wallanders arm like the turkey at a thanksgiving dinner. She doesn’t know what to do and she doesn’t have a clear aim on the dog. So she has to wait for a clean look. Can it get any worse?

The other dog that is tied up finds a way to break free. Now there is another dog coming right at the female detective. She fires off a few rounds in the air. The charging dog does not stop and she ends up putting him down. The other dog that was on Wallander breaks away enough for her to stop him too.

The female detective does everything that she is supposed to do. She protects Wallander. They can breathe for a few moments. What happens next is just unbelievable. The two detectives are talking and the suspect walks right up and swings a mallet and hits the female detective in the head. Wallander does nothing. He just sits in amazement as this thug hits his partner like he was a major league baseball homerun derby champion.

Kurt Wallander is a dumb detective. This is only once incident. There are many more. For a guy that is smart enough to solve complex cases, he sure can do some of the dumbest things imaginable.
