The 5 Best Songs of Journey – Classic Rock Review and Trivia Question
music videos

Journey has seen many different phases, musically speaking, and has had its share of line-up changes. There is no denying that their biggest success was between 1978 and 1987, when they featured their original classic line-up. Journey’s record sales have reached an astonishing 80 million sales worldwide.

Steve Perry, the voice of Journey, is no longer fronting the band. Replacing him turned out to be a brave and successful decision as Journey continues to sell out arenas and top the music charts all over the world to this day. My trivia question to you is: What is the name of the new lead singer who took over in 2007? I will give the answer after I name my choices of the 5 best Journey songs.

Recorded in 1978, Wheel In The Sky was one of the first songs they wrote featuring the new lead singer Steve Perry. This song sounds far ahead of its time due mostly to the overdubbing and studio vocal effects. It puts you in a daydream mode and leaves you feeling good as you reflect back on life, both the good and bad memories.

In the early 80′s, power ballads were a must for rock bands that were trying to keep up with the styles and continue their success. Journey kept pace and succeeded with one of their most popular songs, Faithfully. This songs touches the heart and reminds us that true love can last a lifetime.

Lovin’, Touchin’ Squeezin’ is a song about one of life’s hardest lessons learned. What comes around goes around is the theme here. Affairs of the heart usually hurt the most. When it is put to some of the greatest harmonizing vocals ever recorded, even a depressing life event can become a very happy moment.

Journey knew they made the right move by bringing in Steve Perry when recording Lights. This song completely shows off his vocal range with him reaching an all time high. This is a very melodic song that is great to sing-a-long to. There are some great background vocals to this song also.

Open Arms is one of those love songs that put you right in the mood to slow dance no matter where you are when you hear it. Steve Perry was born to sing these ballads and this is one of the best ones ever written. He is so convincing and sings this one straight from the heart.

There is no end in sight for classic rock band Journey. They are going strong with their present line-up, and I don’t see any changes coming any time soon.

Now for the answer to my trivia question. The singer that took over the lead vocals for Journey in 2007 was Arnel Pineda.

Ya Boy f. Akon – Lock Down Music Video BTS + Interviews

www.hardknock.tv Hard Knock TV’s Behind the Scenes Exclusive preview of Ya Boy (YB) and Akon’s new music video for Lock Down. Akon tells Nick Huff Barili that you can expect his long awaited album to finally come out in September, that it’s called Stadium and that you can expect a much bigger sound from him, which is influence by everywhere he has been in the last couple years. Akon also goes in on the crosspollination between dance music and hip hop, which seem to be dominating the radio charts these days. Konvict has quite the eclectic roster that includes Lady Gaga, T-Pain, Ya Boy, Sway, Colby O’Donis, Jeffree Star, Kardinal Officiall among others. When asked if he ever thought about having a posses cut with everyone he said yes and that he could see even an album with everyone but that he wants to wait until everyone has a chance to make a name for themselves first. Ya Boy (aka YB the Rock Star), who’s influences include Eminem, Jay-Z, Tupac, E-40, Jadakiss, Master P, and Cash Money, talks about what the road has been like from his first track 16 Bars (google if you haven’t heard it) till now, including the move from the Bay to LA and going from working the streets to performing at Paris Hilton’s house. His new album Music Lives is almost done and you can expect him to not only rep the Bay but the whole West Coast, like he did with the smash We Run La, which he says pays homage to LA like Tupac’s to Live and Die in LA.
