Things You Should Know About Wagyu Meat
food
In Japan, Wagyu literally means cow, but it is actually many breeds of cattle with lot of marbling that produces a great amount of oleaginous unsaturated fat. Because of these rare characteristics, Wagyu beef is a luxury and is not easily obtained. In fact, Wagyu beef is often found in fine dining restaurants and is served as an expensive delicacy.
Nowadays, you don't have to visit many stores to find the best Wagyu beef because you can get prime steaks online from many reputable sellers. If you are planning to serve beef steak at an upcoming holiday or event, there are a number of things you should know about preparing Wagyu beef steak.
After taking the steak out of the fridge, remove it from the package then put it on a plate and let it thaw for at least 10 to 20 minutes. Keep in mind that it should be thawed to room temperature. Another thing you have to note when it comes to cooking steaks is that you need to let it rest for no less than ten minutes. By doing this you are allowing the juices to flow evenly throughout the beef. After 10 minutes, you can go ahead and put it on the pan or grill.
When it comes to cooking Wagyu meat through the western method, there are more things to remember. One thing is that there are different kinds of steak cuts and each cut is best suitable for a certain method of cooking. If you are using the Australian method of cooking Wagyu, pick a lower marble score sirloin. The reason for this is that cooking steaks with a higher marble score through this method will cause the flames to burn more of the juicy marbling which lessens its flavor. For cooking a high marble score Wagyu, consider using a flat grill or an iron pan. Doing so will bring the fat out of the steak and baste the meat, which cooks the Wagyu and gives it a savory crust. These are only a few things you should know when cooking steaks and there is still a lot to learn.
If you are planning to celebrate an upcoming holiday or event and want your guests to enjoy the best, then consider getting Wagyu beef steaks and cooking it the proper way. Though the Wagyu will cost you more, the tastes and happy time you have shared with your guests are definitely worth it.
