Logotypes of popular clothing brands are true red lights for fashionmongers. They usually exist since the certain company was established and, therefore, emphasize the lasting leadership in the world of fashion. No one can deny that logotypes nowadays are working for clothing brands in the very best way, as many shopaholics are likely to notice the trademark rather than quality of the fabric or the model. However, less of them are aware of real history of the company face.

The first Burberry store was opened in 1856 and, probably, it is when classic fashion outburst in England. This brand has conquered many countries and fashion podiums due to its adherence of classic traditions and, of course, check ornamentation. Completely in English traditions, logo of Burberry features a figure of a knight in armor with a flag, on which the word «Porsum» was written. In sober fact, the brand carries the name Burberry Porsum till nowadays, but many call it just Burberry.

Interconnected “C” letters cannot but mark the Chanel dresses, purses, perfumes and many other things introduced by this French fashion house. It is very interesting to know that the Chanel logo was introduced in 1925, but only for Chanel #5 perfumes. Today, in contrast, it is used for every brand item. There are two main versions explaining how it has appeared. The firs one claims that C letters were designed by Mikhail Vrubel in 1856. The second one points out that these are the symbols of luck and success. None of these theories can compete with popular understanding of Chanel logo. It is likely to reflect the first letter of Chanel founder, one of the greatest women of the 20th century, – Coco Chanel.

Little green crocodile is usually associated with Lacoste, one of the most sucessful clothing brands. Its legacy speaks for itself. In 1993 Jean Rene Lacoste founded the company that produced T-shirts for tennis players. He was a famous athlete, who played tennis, and in sports circles he was known by the nickname of Alligator. One day, a friend of Jean Rene jokingly drew a small crocodile logo which became known to the world today.

Reference to ancient Greek mythology is vividly observed in Versace brand. The Gorgon Medusa, according to Gianni Versace, should reflect all the fatal attraction Versace things could make. The founder of Versace was a huge fan of classic style and trends and ancient civilizations, by the way. The logo was introduced, as the company was established in 1978.
